Landing at Wuhan Tianhe

Immigration, SIM, cash and the metro into town in under 90 minutes.

Step by step

1. Immigration: have your onward ticket and first hotel address ready if you are on 240-hour transit. Fingerprints are taken at the e-gate kiosks.
2. Money: withdraw ¥500–1,000 at the ICBC/Bank of China ATMs in arrivals as a backup. Then set up Alipay in the terminal Wi-Fi.
3. SIM: China Unicom / China Mobile counters in arrivals sell tourist SIMs with passport; an eSIM bought before you fly is simpler.
4. Metro Line 2 runs from Terminal 3 straight to Hankou, Jianghan Road and Wuchang (50–70 min, ¥7). Tap Alipay's Transport QR at the gate.
5. DiDi via Alipay to Hankou is about ¥80–100 and 40 minutes.

Local tips

• The airport metro station closes around 22:30; late arrivals take DiDi or the airport bus.
• Keep your passport on you: hotels, museums and train stations all scan it.
